Born To Buck

The white mare had just given birth forty-five minutes before I was lucky enough to happen upon this scene. At first I thought she was grazing, as are the other horses in the pasture, but she is actually cleaning her new born foal. [Click To Enlarge For A Better View]

Fortunately, the owner of the horse farm was at the gate when I stopped and she was happy to allow me to photograph the horses. She said the foal was just born, the other foal you see in the right front is four days old, and the larger foal in the center is about a month old. The stallion that sired all of them was in the field, but is not in this picture. The mares are born and bred to be 'bucking mares' for rodeos!

See the foal trying to stand on my Kissimmee blog.

What a tiny little thing - hard to believe he'll be as big if not bigger than mama some day. Great captures George!

Beautiful photo as these fine horses graze the grasses... like a scene plucked right out of a John Wayne movie! Nicely done!

The foal looks a fair bit more independent than my Henry when he was born! Lovely scene, thanks for posting on it.
