I went Gator Hunting earlier this evening, found one in a pond I hadn't seen before, took a picture even though it was ridiculously far away ... but, this little flower caught my eye on my way back home, and the photo came out so much better. Look at all the red ants in there!! Feel free to tell me what's going on.

They're eating the nectar George - ants love sweet stuff so you often see them in flowers. Is this a wild rose? Wonderful photo!
I don't know what kind of flower it is, Janice, but I saw one like it the other day with a bee and an ant vying for the same food. They weren't fighting over it though.
I'll get a picture of the entire plant or tree, maybe you can tell me what it is then.

Janice beat me to it again. She is right--ants love the nectar the aphids leave behind. A beautiful flower--the foliage doesn't quite look like wild rose but it sure could be. MB
I believe that many ants contribute to the reproduction of some plants, where they carry pollen from one plant to another. And digging holes in the ground they make the soil more suitable for the development of plants allowing the water and nutrients more easily infiltrate.
